Vance and I share the characteristic of moving from obsession to obsession when it comes to new bands, albums or even songs. There are a lot of really great bands out there, but occasionally they just hit a nerve.

The two most recent ones for me are Frightened Rabbit and Mates of State. I was a little late to the game with both of them, but take a listen. They’re great bands:

mixing is frustrating. example:

can you take the snare down a little?

ok, a little bit back up?

sorry, the tiniest bit softer…

ok, that’s just right.

this process is making my brain hurt. there are two new singles out this week by modest mouse and why? that make it hurt a little less.

just finished up the book bad astronomy by phillip plait. he basically points out misconceptions that people have about astronomy and such.

ok, so i knew about the tilt of the earth causing the seasons, but it was the simple stuff that got me, the stuff i was told as a kid. right, so when i actually think about balancing an egg on the spring equinox or water spinning in the other direction south of the equator, it doesn’t make any sense.

but this was information planted in my brain when i was a kid and not prone to question the stupidity of things that i didn’t understand. makes me wonder how much useless/incorrect knowledge i’ve accumulated.

graeme is in love with this girl. he wants her to impregnate him so they can make little music babies.
